California Adventure

One of my high school buddies came down to LA over President's Day weekend. It was a nice reprieve from school to do fun things for the weekend. Chris had never been to LA before and he came on a pretty nice weekend weather wise- mid 70s and sunny. We poked around Venice Beach and Santa Monica the first day and went to California Adventure at Disney Land the second.

The last time I went to California Adventure was in 2011, and now that I've been to both Disney Land and California Adventure recently, I have to say that California Adventure is by far my favorite of the two. California Adventure is more of a "traditional" theme park in that there are more thrill rides and less "story" rides like you'd get at Disney Land. The fun part of California Adventure is that all the areas are themed around real places in California- they even have buildings named after places that you can see in real life! I could have sworn they used to have a small Golden Gate Bridge and the letters of California outside of the park (well, I know they had the letters because there's a picture of me in one from 2009), but I didn't see them this time around. My friend is a big Disney park fan; he originally asked to go to Disney Land, but I suggested California Adventure since he was going to Disney World in a few months with his class (he's an English teacher) and California Adventure can only be found in Anaheim!

I really enjoyed myself and I think Chris did as well too. I did snag the Monster's Inc Sully zip up hoodie that I had passed on last time we went to Disney Land (and I regretted) and some other fun things since no one was there to judge :]

I love Chris' funny faces when he knows where the camera is on the rides!

Look who I saw!

I absolutely loved Cars Land. It was incredibly well done and looked like you had stepped into the movie!

One of my favorite rides!

Beginning of World of Color. Never disappoints!

Happy Spring Break!

Happy Spring Break, y'all!

So, let's talk about how intense this past quarter was... So intense. My apologies for the no-posting for almost two months... I definitely thought about things we did that I wanted to write about, but, alas, no time. BUT now that spring break has arrived, I should have some time to post plenty of long overdue adventures Cameron and I have had- most notably a trip to San Diego and my friend's visit to LA & California Adventure (my personal favorite over DisneyLand).

Santa Barbara, please give us jobs so we can live there...

Before my winter quarter classes started, Cameron and I went up to Santa Barbara for a day with Gambit. What a place to be! One of the girls in my cohort went to UCSB for undergrad, and I asked her about a few places to go. She gave me a great list of places to check out, and I can see why she loves it so much.

Needless to say, we both would love to live there. It's definitely much more our speed of a town than Los Angeles, but it's got a pretty high cost of living (then again, where doesn't in SoCal?).  Apparently, it's called the American Riviera, and even my dad said that he would return to the West Coast to retired there. Assuming he won the lottery.

We went to the Mission and poked around for a bit. It's under renovation, so unfortunately there was scaffolding around the tower, but we at least got to see some Spanish style missions! Cameron also took most of these pictures with my "fancy" camera (it's a Nikon D60 that honestly doesn't see enough sunlight.)

The Mission has an extensive rose garden too!

We also checked out a few parks (no memorable photos there), but we also went to the Wharf with Gambit.

Afterwards, we stopped by a place called The Brewhouse that had a doggie menu, so we brought Gambit along to lunch/dinner. He the steak bites and ate them in maybe half a second.

Needless to say, Gambit was tuckered out after our adventure. I'll be applying to jobs in Santa Barbara, so we'll see if this potentially where we'll end up! We'll be heading to San Diego for Cameron's birthday weekend to see if that's another city we'd be interested in living in! Stay tuned!

I'm on Instagram!

I finally decided to join the Instagram bandwagon and created my own.  I take tons of pictures, but somehow it takes too long for my liking to add to my blog… So, for interesting, but perhaps not full post worthy moments, check me out at @toriajemian! There aren't any posts as of yet, but there will be soon!

Happy Sunday!
